karting
Guiness book of Records attempt

In September 1996 a team (Focus magazine) of four drivers attempted to beat the world record for the greatest distance driven by a single engined, 160cc, four stroke kart in 24 hours. The record stood at 1031 miles. 24 gruelling hours of Kent Kart track (Lydd, Kent, England) and after battling several rainstorms and minor mechanical problems 1065 miles were clocked up. The record was ours!

The feature appeared in Focus Magazine, January 1997. Writer Stuart Codling (was computer correspondant Focus Magazine. Now at Redline Mag), photographer (you've guessed!) Tim Andrew

Also appeared in Karting magazine January 1997

I occasionally get out my own 100cc 2-stroke kart (Allkart chassis / Parilla engine) and take on the rest of the "100 C" class at Shennigton or Camberley circuit.

Help needed: mechanic / push starter / enthusiast!

Karting Tim in action!

Since the record attempt Autocar magazine invited me to take part in (and photograph) "Les 24 heures du Mans" for karts at the Alain Prost circuit (Le Mans/France). Result; 28th out of 55 teams. Not bad for an "arrive and drive team".This race was a round of the endurance championship, so we were up against regular racers with their own karts and mountains of equipment.
